This week we are working on "Inflected Endings". We are learning when to double the ending consonant, or when to keep the base word alone before we add the ending.
Words with a short vowel and one ending consonant - double the consonant before the ending. (stop - stopped)
Words with a short vowel and two ending consonants - just add the ending (lift - lifting)
Words that have a silent "e" ending - drop the "e" before adding ed or ing (smile - smiling, smiled)
