Hello 3rd Graders!

Third grade has 60 high frequency words. These are words that are commonly used in writing. It is expected that 3rd graders can write these words accurately and fluently by the end of the year. We will reinforce these words in class, but it will also help to practice at home.

Our goal for all students is to be able to write one whole page in a sitting with clearly communicated ideas. When students need to repeatedly stop to concentrate on spelling high frequency words, their writing fluency decreases. Knowing how to write these words quickly will help them increase their overall writing fluency- enabling them to write longer in one sitting and allowing them to focus more on their communication of ideas rather than spelling.
