Practice for your Spelling Test ... the fun way

Students, do you look forward to studying for your weekly spelling test? We suspect that you don't.

With SpellingCity.com, you now have a fun online spelling program.  We know that studying spelling words is usually not what you would consider fun. But we think SpellingCity.com will change that.  Imagine yourself playing spelling games online the day before your spelling test, and ending up with an A!

With game choices such as HangMouse, WordSearch, UnScramble, and Word Matching, we think spelling practice might now move from being your least favorite activity, to something you might even do for fun.

Even spelling test reviews are fun. We don’t give you spelling lists and expect you to memorize them. Instead, you can take an interactive quiz, hearing the words the way you do during real spelling tests.  You might not even feel like you are studying!  Let your parents and teachers know about Spelling City. Your teachers may start using SpellingCity to put up your class word lists, and your parents can help quiz you during the week.

SpellingCity.com is free. You do not need to register to use it.

Getting Started:

• To begin, enter your spelling words in the list in the yellow box on the home page.

• To find spelling lists posted by your teacher, click on Find Your List and enter your teacher’s first name only, or last name only.

• To test yourself for fun, choose a list from the Sample Lists, or look at other students’ spelling lists.  Try searching on your grade level or favorite topic (e.g., soccer or ballet).

That’s it! Don’t forget to share your lists and games with your parents, teachers and friends.
