A Wealth of Word Lists -- Thanks to you, our users, SpellingCity has accumulated a variety of spelling lists that will suit any parent’s need or child’s interest. Some are grade-based, and some are based on topic, such as “Ballet Words,” or “Baseball Terms” or “Words of Latin Origin.”

Find A List -- You can search our word lists to find lists that interest you or your students. Simply type the subject or title of the list, or the teacher’s last name, or first name into the search box.

Teachers and Parents -- When you create a list, you have the option to publish it or keep it private by clicking on the “Publish this list” box at the bottom of the list. If you are submitting new words, it may take a few weeks for the words to be reviewed, approved and recorded.

Spelling Goes with Everything -- Because spelling and vocabulary are best learned by connecting them to other subjects, many parents and teachers create word lists based on science, literature, geography, history, or other subjects of interest. For instance, if you are reading The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis, you might search and find a spelling or vocabulary list already created for the book. If you don’t find a list that suits your needs, feel free to create one!
