Middle School Functions
Math functions have a multifaceted set of applications ranging from statistics to science and engineering. The rules defined in a function assign one value, or output, to every input to describe relationships between quantities or geometric features such as lines and angles. Functions can take the form of graphs, tables, algebraic equations, or verbal explanations. The problem-solving skills learned with functions allow students to make connections between variables, and to evaluate which variables must be solved for. Functions are introduced in 8th grade geometry and linked to algebraic comparisons and mathematical modeling. Read More
