I am a first-year user of ActivBoard Technology. There is a slate that can be used by the teacher or student in conjunction with the board. I am not sure the feature would allow for a whole class to be taking the test at the same time. The Senteo product (or ActiVotes) handhelp response systems would allow a class to take a multiple choice test or respond with YES and NO to correct or incorrect spelling of a list of words. I'd be very interested in hearing more from others about using SpellingCity and the ActivBoard together. I'd also be interested in assisting company developer pilot any type of program utilizing the two programs.

We are developing a whole new series of spellng and vocabulary games which use any lists and which are answered with multiple choice answers. So these could work with the smartboards.

Does anybody have any good contacts at that company who would work with us to make it available?

We tried calling in but they were pretty snooty. It would help if some of their customers could ask them to contact us (info@spellingcity.com). Just send them an email saying you want to know when it's going to be available.

I am brand new to SpellingCity, and am setting up an account to provide access to my students who need a different way to learn and practice the weekly spelling words. I would love to tie this site into my Smartboard technology! Would it be as simple as attaching the link to the notebook page?

We would be VERY interested in using Spelling City on SMART Boards. We'd especially enjoy the option you described which would allow us to conduct spelling bees across the district.

I would imagine that SMART Technologies would be most interested in working with your company. I'm gong to contact our sales person regarding this forum.

I am new to this site and it happens that I will be using a Smartboard in the fall. I am very excited and will be looking into some of the ways that I can use both.

I have both the smartboard and the einstruction "clickers" in my classroom. My clickers can not spell words but I can enter 2-6 ways to spell the word and the student can select the correct spelling. I think this is actually a more realistic way to test spelling. Rarely will anyone ask you to spell a word aloud but in everyday writing my students need to look at a word and decide if it is spelled correctly or not. My current spelling tests not oral. I give a worksheet with ten sentences, each using ONE of the 20 words we studied. If the word is spelled incorrectly they fix it by writing it correctly on the line, but if it is correct they simply rewrite it on the line. If Spelling City had a feature where the words were used in context in a sentence with choices for the correct spelling of the word - that would be great. Teachers could adjust the # of choice available from 2 - 6 to tier the assignment for students who need more or less of a challenge.
