Help Wanted - Sentence Writer 2008/04/27 02:46
First of all, before anybody gets confused, this is not a site where you get to advertise for jobs. UNLESS you are the Mayor of SpellingCity (which I am and you are not!) and you are looking for some help to work on development of this site. Oh, it's good to be the king! Please email us (info@...) if you'd like to apply.

We need original sentences written for http://www.SpellingCity.com. The words are high school level. The sentences should be as short as possible. The sentences should give as much context as possible. They will be used on SpellingCity.com and other related sites. We send you lists of sentences in batches, usually of 500. You send back, within a week, 500 sentences for these words. We pay $.10 per sentence. So $50 per 500 hundred sentences. We look for a one week turn-around.

We're looking for a long term contractor. We will probably have new lists of sentences and related work (there will also be building and refining some definitions and lists of synonyms and opposites) every 2-3 weeks.

To apply, send us a resume and your sentences for the following ten words.

inevitable
pillage
pretentious
bolster
visualization
ne'er-do-well
diplomatically
contemporaries
symbolism
shrewdness

Here's a clarification of what we are looking for:

- The sentences should be as short as possible. Short in terms of the number of syllables (since they take up storage space).
- The sentences should give as much context as possible in terms of word meaning.
- The sentences should use the most common use of the word.
- The sentences should avoid any sensitive areas and be appropriate for children in schools.
- Humor is OK
- The sentences should correctly use the word in a sentence!

Examples of great sentences for aunt, pillage, inevitable, bolster:
My aunt looked like my uncle.
After the battle, the victors will pillage the village.
It is said that only taxes and death are inevitable.
The coach tried to bolster the team's morale.

Examples of unusable sentences (too long, not enough context, misuse of the word, changed the tense)(PS - we actually received these.....)
I made a phone call to my aunt to ask questions about the Bar Mitzvah that was planned for next week for my nephew.
The invading army pillaged the captured town, stealing everything valuable and ransacking everything else.
A bolster seat is required for children in young cars. !?!
The inevitable sunrise came at the end of the day.
