Australian Spelling 2008/04/26 16:41
Hi There, I am a teacher who is using this valuable resource in Australia, Some of the words in my spelling lists are not recognised as I am using the Australian spelling ie neighbour as opposed to the American neighbor, is there a way I can fix this?

Since we are an American site, we only use American spelling. But we do have quite a few users from Australia and New Zealand, and we do plan on putting up spelling lists of English spelling, to include words such as 'neighbour' and 'colour', among others. We hope to have these up within the next few weeks, if not sooner.

I just wanted to give you an update on UK, Australian, and New Zealand words.

Spelling City is excited to be working with schools and families in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and any other countries that use non-American alternatives to English words.

We are approving every "UK spelling" that is submitted, and are thrilled to keep expanding this list of words!
As for specific lists, I know that Susan Dann has a few lists of specific words that are different in the US and the UK(and other countries).

Please create some lists and share your words with us! Post them here on the forum. We'll be looking forward to seeing them.

Thanks!

I am teaching in South Africa and I am using these lists for students to learn words in Life Orientation and hopefully also Life Sciences. Today my words grazes and diarrhoea were not accepted.

I really like the wordsearch function and the fact that I can print wordsearches. May I use wordsearches generated here in class tests?

If you enter a valid word, and we do not have it yet in our database, we will review it and try to get it up on our site within the next few weeks.
