I would love to give feedback and also I have a smartboard. How do I incorporate Spellingcity into my lessons? One final question - when will the writing practice become available? This will be great for our Adult Education program.

Our site offers many activities, including Writing Practice Activities, many of which are compatible with SMARTboards. You'll notice in the top right corner of many of the activities, a little expand icon which, when you click it, expands the activity to be full screen. Then it looks GREAT on the projection boards.

Basically, the easiest way to incorporate the site into lessons is to find or create a word list that supports that lesson.

The most popular whole class activities are either HangMouse for the younger kids or Word-O-Rama for the older ones.

The student writing practice sections are live and active. They have been for years. Here's a top level view of them:

Usually, you access them like the other student activities from the activities or game page. www.spellingcity.com/spelling-games-vocabulary-games.html

The reason that the word "beta" is used on the Premium Activities is that we have added a text-to-speech engine so that students can have their writing read back to them. Additionally, we have a library of instructional videos about writing that the teacher can assign to students. So, if the assignment is to write a proper paragraph, the teacher might assign a video on structuring a paragraph. If the assignment is about a narrative paragraph, there is also an appropriate video to assign.

I am frustrated with the lack of games for spelling in the premium activities. "More games coming," it has said on the game section, for months. When??

Interesting. I think we add new games pretty regularly.

The latest addition was Word Find (www.spellingcity.com/wordfind.html) which went up in April. If the number of plays that we see is evidence, it looks to be the most popular game we've offered since HangMouse.

Also this past winter, we put up the new Crossword Puzzle.

And we do have more coming along. Is there a particular type of game that you would like more of? I will admit that the Iphone/Ipad app has taken up more programming and designing resources than we anticipated.

Okay, fair enough -- I guess I keep seeing the gap that says "more games coming" -- but that is good if they are being added every two months or so. Anyway, a cool game would be to shoot down the words which are spelled wrong (among the correctly spelled words). And then they turn into vultures and screech and squawk while they fall from the sky.
