TOPIC: associate registered parent with school

associate registered parent with school 1 year, 9 months ago #4364

I have a registered account with Spelling City and my school and teacher are registered as well. How do I associate my account with my teacher's so that I can easily access her lists for my child?

Hi,

Parents do not need to associate their accounts with their child's teacher or school to have access to the teacher's word lists. You simply need to use our Find A List feature to search for your child's teacher's name. Once you find your child's teacher, click on the link, and you will be taken to his/her VocabularySpellingCity homepage where lists will be accessible.

I hope this helps!

I would like to do the same thing so that when my son uses his teacher's lists the record appears in his gradebook. I just logged in as him to test if that would happen and received a message along the lines of "this list is not your teacher's (meaning me, mum) and will not be recorded... continue or choose list from your teacher (mum)... Is there any way he can be associated with both so that everything he does is recorded? This will apply to my other son too if his teacher uses vocabspellingcity but we're not sure who his teacher is yet! TIA. Vanessa.

Hi Vanessa,

I see that you are a Premium Member. I assume that you have assigned each of your sons his own username and password, which they use to log in and their activities are recorded for you. Their test scores will be recorded in your gradebook only if they use a list you have entered yourself OR imported into your account.

If your sons' teachers are Premium Members, they should have given your son's usernames and passwords to log in so that activity they completed at home would be recorded in the teacher's account.

There is no way to link two Premium Accounts - each account has it's own gradebook, and your son's will have different logins for each account.

Now, if your sons' teachers are not Premium Members, but you would like the scores for the tests that they take using their teachers' lists to appear in your Gradebook, I recommend that you IMPORT the teachers' lists into your account. To do so, use Find A List to locate the teacher's homepage and click the Import link next to each list you want to import into your own account.

I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Nancy

Hi Nancy, thanks for your prompt response!

I don't believe either of their teachers are premium members however yes I have created logons for them and both they & I are loving being able to see their history & progress (as we have with Mathletics).

I did see the import list option and have been doing that as an interim measure however I'm very happy to continue doing it as the solution. That way I retain full access & control of their assignments etc. VocabSpellingCity & Mathletics are extra-curricular for both boys so I will simply print a 'report' each week for them to glue into their homework book for the teacher's reference.

Thanks again,
Cheers,
Vanessa :)
