TOPIC: How to Use the List Sharing Forum

How to Use the List Sharing Forum 2 years, 5 months ago #2135

The purpose of this forum is for SpellingCity users to share lists they have published.

If there is already a thread for the curriculum you are sharing lists for, please post on that thread. If you would like to share lists from a curriculum that does not yet have a thread, please begin a new thread.

List importing. While you can use the lists on another person's homepage, it's often more convenient to import them to your own homepage. Here's the How-To from the Help section of list importing:

Import a List - To import a list, you must be logged in. Once logged in, select the "Find a List" option to look up the list, or teacher, that you wish to import a list from. Once you have located the list, click "Import"
Note: You will only see the "Import" option when you are logged in.

Thank you for being willing to share your efforts!

This section of the forum was another example of an idea that was suggested to us by a member. Thanks. You should be getting a stack of "thank you" mouse pads from us as well as a free year membership to our new paid student gradebook service.

Here are some lists that I'd want you to be aware of. All of these lists can be used as is or imported into your own home page.

My lists are based off of the Pathways to Spelling program by Terry Clinefelter. I would love to share them with fellow Pathways to Reading teachers so that they do not have to recreate them. How exactly to I share my lists?

Do I just submit my name for the other members to search?

Re:How to Use the List Sharing Forum 1 year, 8 months ago #3074

Mrs. Pettijohn, I think there are a few threads with the same question but I think that's OK.

A user can find your lists by just clicking on your name. So if they find this thread, they should click on your nam.

To be really helpful, you could pu this is the Pathways to Spelling 1st grade lists right on your home page. These means Google will eventually find it so people could find it through the search box. This is really helpful of you.

BTW, what's so distinctive and great about Pathways to Spelling?

To change the message on your home page, when logged in, you go to to "edit profile.".

I think the Broward County Spelling List is findable this way.

Pathways to Spelling follows along with the Pathways to Reading instructional model. You teach all the vowels and spelling of the vowels. There are 17 vowel sounds that we focus on. Then you introduce spelling rules such as e jumps over one consonant sound and more words start with c than k. As you teach each rule you have word lists for the kids to practice writing and reading, nonsense words, decodable books that match the concepts, and a spelling list that has words that match the concept. The spelling is designed to start around the second nine weeks. It really is a great approach to teaching reading and spelling at the same time! My students had enormous success with this program! It requires training but once you get the training you are set for life!
