Exciting resource for dyslexia! 10 Months, 4 Weeks ago
SpellingCity has partnered with AVKO to provide a customized, multimedia spelling curriculum for students with dyslexia. The AVKO Spelling Lists are now available on SpellingCity, as well as instructions and ideas for using AVKO with SpellingCity. You can also find more information about the program on the AVKO website.

AVKO is a non-profit organization that specializes in teaching people with dyslexia how to read, write, spell and type. AVKO develops books and materials utilizing the multi-sensory approach (Audio, Visual, Kinesthetic, Oral).

Please share your experiences with this program, as well as ideas concerning its use!

This looks interesting. The AVKO Sequential Spelling approach is pretty popular with homeschoolers. Anybody have first hand experience?

While I'm at it, has anyone put up the Zaner-Bloser spelling lists for 3rd (this year) or 4th grade lists? I've seen them posted on many school websites but since there are so many lists, I'm reluctant to start cutting and pasting them in if someone else has already done it for us.

AVKO would love to field any questions, comments, or concerns that you may have about this exciting new resource from AVKO and SpellingCity. Whereas the approach of Sequential Spelling -- and the resultant Sequential Spelling-like curriculum that you will tailor to meet your needs -- are very effective with dyslexics, they are effective for people who don't have learning disabilities as well.

Hope to hear from you all

Thank God for this site. I am an unexpected homeschooling parent this year. And I have been scrambling to find curriculum. This has been really helpful for my son. He made a 100 on the test. And it is only Tuesday. I did recommend that he continue throughout the week playing the games that reinforce learning the words.

Looking for fun ways to get correct info into long term memory is a challenge. This, so far, has been wonderful.

You are right about the relationship! Sequential Spelling IS one of AVKO's programs! Sequential Spelling has been well received in the homeschooling community.
