Spring is here! Like the changing winter landscape that gives way to fresh breezes, soft green grass, and colorful flowers, SpellingCity.com has made some changes of our own, and we are looking forward to a great new season. Welcome to the new version of our site.
Things to Get Excited About:
SpellingCity.com is now a lot faster!
We have a much improved Test Results page. New features include an option for students to retest themselves using their entire list, or target individual words. There is also an eye catching achievement certificate to print out once the test is done. Or, to save ink, simply print out a less ornate report.
We have resolved all issues with Mac and Mozilla Firefox, so Firefox and Mac users, step right up!
We have added 2,000 new words and are continuing to expand our word database regularly. New words include: skepticism, oceanography, immortality, and atmospheric.
This week’s Feature Tip: TeachMe
The TeachMe function has some new features. There are three ways to use TeachMe.
After entering a word list, you can choose the TeachMe button. This takes you to the TeachMe page. Click on the box, and the first word on the list will begin to spell in the box. You will also hear the word being spelled, and then be offered the word in a sentence. This engages auditory and visual memory at the same time, which aids in memorizing the word. You can also use TeachMe after choosing a sample list from the toolbar at the top of the page.
Finally, you can use TeachMe to review words left blank or incomplete during a test.
Don’t forget the SpellingCity forum, where you can hobnob with other spelling teachers or enthusiasts on how to best teach spelling.
