The printouts are excellent! I really like the sign-language option.

About 10% of people are left handed. Letter formation for left handed writers is markedly different than right handed letter formation.

It is generally accepted now that forcing a child to 'switch' handwriting hands is very poor advice based on outcome based studies and recent neurological discovery.

Teachers may be unwittingly compromising left handed students handwriting development by passing out spelling lists with SpellingCity right handed letter formation guidelines to left -handed writers.

Visual-motor integration pathways formed while learning to write letters and words in elementary school settings are critical life long components for all students and difficult to rescind.

Undoing muscle memory couplings to letter, word and language associations can be almost impossible for students resulting in poor to illegible handwriting and latent dysgraphia as lefties take on more challenging handwriting assignments.

Think of it as a mechanic installing an auto's transmission 180 degrees from correct. It's going to be hard to go forward very fast with one gear (reverse) available to you.

POOR HANDWRITING IS THE MOST COMMON REASON FOR UNDERACHIEVEMENT IN SCHOOLS, BAR NONE.

Creating a left-handed letter formation font is not much of an undertaking. I'll do it for SpellingCity for cost if it helps.

This URL is a solid source of left handed letter formation guidelines:

I am not soliciting. I am concerned, though. Great site, otherwise. Keep up the good work.

Thank you,

Peter

Peter, This sounds interesting.

Are there any teachers out there that feel that this is a major issue? SPEAK UP!

We tend to be responsive to what our teachers care most about it and so far, I've never heard from a user about the need for left handed fonts.

Our original vendor for the fonts was called Downhill Publishing and they had A LOT of fonts. I wonder if they support Left Handed Fonts.
